What the Program Offers
The Hometown Heroes program is designed to make homeownership affordable by easing the burden of upfront costs. If you qualify, here is what the assistance looks like:
Substantial Funding: Receive up to 5% of your total loan amount (up to a maximum of $35,000) in assistance.
Guaranteed Minimum: The minimum assistance amount available is $10,000.

With the new wave of funding comes a tighter focus on supporting the local workforce. For the 2026 roll-out, the program is specifically limited to first-time homebuyers who are employed full-time (35+ hours per week) by a Florida-based employer in one of the following essential fields:
Eligible Occupations:

Workplace Requirements:
To ensure this funding supports the local economy, the state has clear rules on where you work:
You must be employed full-time by a Florida-based employer that has a physical location in the state.
You must physically work from or report to that Florida location. Note on Remote Work: Hybrid workers who split time with a local office are eligible, but strictly fully remote workers are not.
